Bishkek, June 19, 2026. /Kabar/. The global energy sector is undergoing a large-scale transformation, where growing demand for electricity, digitalization, and energy security issues are becoming equally pressing for all countries. Kyrgyz Energy Minister Altynbek Rysbekov at the 6th Meeting of SCO Energy Ministers speaks at the Ala-Archa State Residence.

According to him, under these circumstances, coordination between SCO member states is particularly important.

"The SCO region is home to the world's largest energy markets, significant generating capacity, and significant scientific and technological potential. Improving the interconnectivity of energy systems will enable more efficient use of resources, improve the reliability of electricity supply, strengthen energy security, and create opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation," noted Altynbek Rysbekov.

The Energy Minister also paid special attention to the climate agenda. "These issues are becoming especially relevant in the context of climate change, rising demand, and the increasing share of renewable energy sources, which require modern solutions for managing energy systems. At the same time, hydropower remains the foundation of the energy system and one of the most important tools for sustainable development," Rysbekov said.
