Bishkek, June 22, 2026. /Kabar/. Feruza Eshmatova, Oliy Majlis Representative of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, met with Ombudsperson Jamilya Zhamanbaeva, Ombudsperson Institute reports.
According to the information, the role of the human rights institution in bringing relations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan closer was noted at the meeting.
Over the past years, the appeals of our citizens and the human rights agenda in the region have changed qualitatively. The intensification of cross-border cooperation, trade and economic ties, and academic exchanges between the two countries requires us to respond more quickly and flexibly,” Jamilya Zhamanbaeva said.
Feruza Eshmatova agreed with the ombudsman's opinion, saying that the parties are taking important and necessary steps to further develop bilateral cooperation between neighboring countries.
At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a protocol on amendments and additions to the memorandum of cooperation.
It is worth noting that the memorandum was first signed in 2022. During 2025, the Ombudsperson's Institute received 8 appeals from citizens of Uzbekistan.
