Bishkek, Feb. 02, 2026. /Kabar/. 100 years since the establishment of the Kyrgyz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. If we turn the pages of history, on February 1, 1926, in accordance with the resolution of the All-Union Central Executive Committee of the USSR, the Kyrgyz Autonomous Oblast was renamed the Kyrgyz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. The decision to organize an Autonomous Union Republic at the III session of the Kyrgyz Autonomous Oblast held in November 1925 served as the basis for the establishment of the Kyrgyz ASSR.

Pishpek city, the capital of the republic, was renamed Frunze on May 12, 1926.

Ten years later, on December 5, 1936, the Kyrgyz ASSR was elevated to a new status, becoming the Kyrgyz SSR.

And on December 15, 1990, the Supreme Soviet of Kyrgyz SSR approved the “Declaration on State Sovereignty”. The historical document formed the legal basis for the proclamation of Kyrgyzstan as a new independent state 8 months later, on August 31, 1991.

Today, Kyrgyzstan is an independent republic that has its place on the world map, has established diplomatic relations with dozens of countries, and has strengthened cooperation in the socio-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The country's economy continues to demonstrate stable development. Currently, it has one of the highest rates of growth in gross domestic product (GDP) on a regional and global scale. In 2025, the economic growth rate remained at a high level, exceeding 11% in the last two years (2024–2025).
