Kyrgyz emergency minister receives ICDO Secretary General

Bishkek, April 7, 2026. /Kabar/. On April 6, Minister of Emergency Situations Kanatbek Chynybaev received delegation led by Arguj Kalantarli, Secretary General of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO).

According to the ministry's press service, the parties noted the sustainable and constructive nature of their cooperation, based on the principles of openness, mutual respect, and trust. This collaboration is aimed at preventing emergencies, reducing disaster risks, and protecting populations and territories.

Secretary-General highly commended Kyrgyzstan's contribution to ICDO activities, emphasizing its importance. For his part, the Minister of Emergency Situations outlined priority and promising areas of cooperation.

The parties also discussed the priorities of the ICDO Regional Office for Central Asia and Asia in Bishkek and the launch of pilot projects in the country. Key areas identified include the development of educational and training infrastructure, the creation and equipping of specialized training grounds, the training and advanced training of rescuers, firefighters, and divers, the provision of units with modern equipment, and the improvement of emergency response mechanisms at the regional level.

During his visit, the ICDO Secretary General learned about the Crisis Management Center's operations, the response system's operating principles, and the technical equipment used. He also visited a rescue training center, where modern firefighting and emergency rescue vehicles, specialized equipment, and search and rescue operations were demonstrated.
