Kyrgyz FM, IFRC head discuss prospects for cooperation

Bishkek, June 17, 2026 /Kabar/. Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev met with Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation, focusing on improving emergency preparedness, disaster risk reduction, and developing the volunteer movement.

The minister emphasized the importance of the IFRC Regional Office for Central Asia, located in Bishkek, and expressed gratitude to the organization for its support of initiatives in Kyrgyzstan and the region.

Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation in preparation for the International Year of Volunteers and the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Red Crescent Society of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The parties also exchanged views on the climate agenda, including promoting the interests of mountainous countries in the international arena. In this context, Jeenbek Kulubaev invited Kate Forbes to participate in the Second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25," which will be held in Kyrgyzstan in 2027.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further expanding practical cooperation and strengthening the partnership between Kyrgyzstan and the IFRC.
