Bishkek, Oct. 28, 2025. /Kabar/. Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanat Sagynbaev met with a delegation from the UN World Food Programme (WFP) led by Kojiro Nakai.
According to the ministry, the minister thanked the WFP representatives for their long-standing partnership and support in implementing social programs.
"The World Food Programme is our key partner and donor. Over the years of cooperation, WFP has helped thousands of Kyrgyz citizens, donating over 60,000 tons of food and providing assistance worth over $166 million," noted Sagynbaev.
He recalled that projects totaling $166.2 million are being implemented under memorandums and strategic cooperation plans from 2014 to 2027, including infrastructure, education, and income-generating initiatives.
"Together with WFP, we have implemented an effective food-for-work program. Over 11 years, more than 7,500 projects have been implemented, 50,000 people have received temporary employment, and tens of thousands of families have learned new professions," the minister emphasized.
Sagynbaev also noted the importance of WFP's work in emergency situations—floods, mudflows, and conflicts—where the program provides prompt humanitarian assistance to victims.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in employment, small business development, improving food security, and implementing digital solutions. "We are ready to plan new joint projects to best serve the interests of citizens and create long-term benefits," the minister stated.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that the partnership between the Ministry of Labor and the UN World Food Programme will continue to strengthen social protection and improve the quality of life of the people of Kyrgyzstan.
