Bishkek, March 25, 2025. /Kabar /. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu today, March 25, received Ambassador of Japan to the Kyrgyz Republic Hideki Goda.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of Kyrgyz-Japanese cooperation, issues in the field of expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, noting that Japan is one of Kyrgyzstan's strategic partners, emphasized that it is necessary to consistently develop bilateral socio-economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.
The speaker briefly touched on the activities of the Japan International Cooperation Agency. "Through this agency, joint projects are successfully implemented in various fields, especially in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Work is underway to equip hospitals with modern medical equipment, and opportunities are being created for Kyrgyzstanis to improve their qualifications in leading educational institutions in Japan,” he said.
In addition, the speaker emphasized the importance of organizing mutual visits to further develop the already established level of cooperation. He recalled that in 2023, President Sadyr Japarov made a successful official visit to Japan, during which significant documents were signed that opened a new page in bilateral relations.
Also, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, noting the major role of parliamentary diplomacy in implementing the agreements reached and strengthening interstate ties, expressed the interest of the Zhogorku Kenesh in close cooperation with the Japanese parliament, and also drew attention to the intensification of cooperation between parliamentary friendship groups created in the parliaments of both countries.
In turn, Ambassador Hideki Goda, noting that Japan has been cooperating with Kyrgyzstan since 1992, focused on the work being done to further strengthen bilateral relations and their results. In particular, he cited active cooperation in the field of education as an example, emphasizing that the number of Kyrgyzstanis receiving education in Japan has increased, and among them there are two currently serving ministers. Along with this, Hideki Goda expressed gratitude to the Jogorku Kenesh for providing prompt support in matters of ratification of the agreements reached for their successful implementation, adding the importance of developing inter-parliamentary cooperation for Japan.
