Bishkek, Feb. 27, 2026 /Kabar/. On February 26, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev held a bilateral meeting in London with Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Yvette Cooper.
According to Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported, the talks focused on the current state and prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Kingdom. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening Kyrgyz-British contacts aimed at expanding political dialogue, developing trade, economic, and investment cooperation, and strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties. Mutual interest in maintaining regular exchanges of delegations at the interparliamentary and governmental levels was expressed.
Kulubaev, positively assessing the current level of bilateral relations, noted the joint implementation of such important projects as the construction of a cement materials plant in Kyrgyzstan by the British company United Concrete Canvas, the provision of a credit line by the UK government's Export Credit Agency to finance investment projects, cooperation with British financial institutions and consulting agencies on sovereign credit ratings and access to international capital markets in London, the introduction of elements of English law in the country, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on critical mineral resources, and the implementation of the Seasonal Workers Program for Kyrgyz citizens.
At the same time, the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister noted with regret that, despite such positive and fruitful achievements, unilateral restrictive measures could negatively impact the further development of trade and financial ties between the two countries. He expressed serious concern about the UK's sanctions measures and called for a more constructive and balanced approach, emphasizing the Kyrgyz side's readiness for an open, equal, and mutually beneficial dialogue.
The ministers also exchanged views on international and regional issues and discussed the two countries' cooperation within various international organizations and regional associations.
