Bishkek, May 20, 2026 /Kabar/. Time capsule laying ceremony was held in Nura village in Alay district of Osh region, marking the launch of major strategic project in energy and logistics, Ministry of Energy reports.
According to the ministry, Deputy Minister of Energy Salavat Sadyrakunov participated in the event and officially launched the project. The project is being implemented as part of a strategic partnership between Kyrgyzkomur JSC and Xinjiang Dacheng Yuanlong Technology Co., Ltd. of the People's Republic of China. The total investment volume is USD 430 million.
The project is considered a large-scale program aimed at radically modernizing the coal industry's logistics infrastructure. The project's primary goal is to ensure the export of coal mined at Tekelik deposit through the Erkeshtami border crossing using modern logistics system, reducing transportation costs, and increasing Kyrgyzstan's competitiveness in foreign markets.
Modern logistics center will also be built on 10-hectare site in Nura village, including two coal preparation plants and a conveyor belt system for coal transportation. Upon full implementation, the project will create more than 100 permanent jobs, significantly contributing to the socioeconomic development of the region.
The first phase of the project is expected to allocate USD 50 million. It is planned to increase coal transportation capacity to 10 million tons per year. 7.7-kilometer conveyor system will be built initially, and its total length will be increased to 157 kilometers in subsequent stages.
This project is a major strategic initiative that opens a new stage in Kyrgyzstan's economic and logistical development. Its implementation will create conditions for expanding the country's export potential and fundamentally modernizing the logistics chain for coal exports to international markets in line with modern requirements.
Furthermore, the initiative will strengthen Kyrgyzstan's position as important logistics and transit hub in Central Asia, as well as enhance the country's role in regional trade flows. In turn, will elevate economic cooperation with China to a qualitatively new level and deepen mutual integration through the implementation of major infrastructure projects.
The project will also have a significant multiplier effect on the national economy, creating additional growth dynamics in the transportation, mining, and processing industries. It will stimulate the socioeconomic development of the regions and contribute to increased employment by creating new jobs.
The necessary state support mechanisms are currently being provided for the project's implementation, including expert assessments, organizational support, and the passage of equipment across the border under a "green corridor." At the same time, it is noted that all production and export processes within the project will be carried out transparently and will ensure stable tax revenues for the state budget. This, in turn, will contribute to strengthening the country's economy and increasing government revenues," the department noted.
