Bishkek, Jan. 13, 2026. /Kabar/. Due to temperatures dropping to -35 degrees Celsius, all 32 schools in Naryn Oblast have switched to distance learning.

Elvira Zhanbolotova, Deputy head of Naryn Oblast State Administration, told Kabar News Agency, this decision was made today at a headquarters meeting.

"The children's transition to distance learning is due to the severe frosts outside. Furthermore, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, cold weather in the region will persist until January 19." "Therefore, to ensure the safety and health of children, especially those coming from remote areas and mountain slopes, we have switched them to distance learning. However, kindergartens remain open," she noted.

Earlier, four schools in the Suusamyr valley in Chui Oblast, have switched to distance learning due to severe frosts as nighttime temperatures are dropping to -48 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures are hovering around -33 to -35 degrees Celsius.
