Bishkek, Oct. 14, 2025. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is considering importing meat from Mongolia, Zheenaly Orozbekov, Chairman of the Antimonopoly Regulation Service under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce told during the press conference at Kabar news agency.

According to him, meat supplies from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus are being considered as well.

We continue to work in this direction. Active efforts are underway, led by the President, the Cabinet of Ministers, and relevant ministries. Currently, we can only provide 87% of our meat needs. Our farmers are shifting from quantitative to qualitative production. They are importing cows and sheep from other countries that produce higher-quality meat, such as the Arashan breed. This will solve many issues, but it will take time, he noted.

The head of the agency also added that Kyrgyzstan continues to import chicken from other countries. He noted that the temporary meat shortage on the market may be due to the seasonal increase in demand associated with feasts and funerals.
