Bishkek, Oct. 22, 2026 /Kabar/. Starting October 22, Kyrgyzstan has introduced state regulation of coal prices for fuel sold to the general public. The measure will remain in effect for 90 days, the Antimonopoly Regulation Service informed the Kabar news agency.
The corresponding order was issued by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce on October 21.
"Retail coal prices will be set individually for each region, as well as for Bishkek and Osh. Depending on market conditions, the duration of this regulation may be extended. Exceeding the established price limits will result in a fine of 3,000 soms for individuals and 13,000 soms for legal entities," the statement says.
Additionally, coal retail outlets will be subject to inspections to ensure they use certified, calibrated scales and display price tags indicating the cost.
These measures are intended to prevent unjustified increases in coal prices during the autumn-winter season and to ensure that the population has access to affordable fuel.
