Bishkek, May 21, 2026. /Kabar/. Erlist Akunbekov, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic meets with Ayten Rustamova, EBRD head in Kyrgyzstan.

The parties are discussing the modernization of water infrastructure, improving the efficiency of water resource management, and providing the population with high-quality water and access to sewerage services.
Additional Financing for the Naryn Water Supply and Sewerage System Rehabilitation Project (Phase II) was presented at the meeting. This project will provide 20,000 residents of Naryn with centralized sewerage system, improve the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the region, reduce the discharge of polluted wastewater into the Naryn River, and increase the infrastructure's resilience to climate change.
As Erlist Akunbekov noted, the project sets a plan to fully provide the country with clean water by 2030.
"However, we intend to implement it at an accelerated pace. Of the 2,100 villages in Kyrgyzstan, 871 are provided with clean water. Work is underway in approximately 300 villages," the minister emphasized.
It is worth noting that Minister Akunbekov is holding meetings accompanied by media representatives as part of the "Open Cabinet" media project and will also visit a number of sites.
