Bishkek, June 16, 2026 /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev met with Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), who arrived in Kyrgyzstan on her first official visit.
According to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, the head of the Cabinet emphasized that Kyrgyzstan supports the humanitarian mission of the International Federation and highly values its role in the face of modern global challenges, including armed conflicts, climate change, and emergency situations.
During the meeting, Kasymaliev noted that Kyrgyzstan intends to use its membership in the UN Security Council to advance sustainable development, preventive diplomacy, the climate agenda, and respond to natural disasters and epidemiological threats.
The parties discussed ongoing cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The chairman expressed gratitude for the support provided to the country during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as for the assistance provided to the Ministry of Emergency Situations in responding to mudflows and floods.
Kyrgyz side also expressed interest in leveraging the Federation's international experience to implement the Law "On International Emergency Assistance" and improve emergency response mechanisms.
Special attention was paid to the activities of the National Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, and to the development of the volunteer movement. Adylbek Kasymaliev announced the adoption of the law "On Volunteer Activity" and initiative to develop a national volunteer development program, including the creation of coordination centers and a unified digital platform.
The mountain agenda was also discussed during the meeting. The chairman recalled Kyrgyzstan's international initiatives for the development of mountain regions and invited Kate Forbes to participate in the Second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25," which will be held in Kyrgyzstan in October 2027.
In turn, Kate Forbes praised Kyrgyzstan's efforts in disaster risk management, volunteer development, and the promotion of climate initiatives, confirming the International Federation's readiness to further expand humanitarian cooperation with the country.
