Bishkek, June 24, 2026. /Kabar/. At session of Jogorku Kenesh today, June 24, deputies adopted the second and third readings of the draft constitutional law "On amendments to the Constitutional law of Kyrgyzstan on elections of Kyrgyz president and deputies of Jogorku Kenesh."

Following the adoption of the bill, Jogorku Kenesh Speaker Marlen Mamataliev delivered a speech in which he detailed the main purpose of these amendments.

In his speech, the speaker noted that changing election day is a step aimed at increasing voter turnout.

"Dear deputies, we have just amended the law regarding the procedure for holding presidential and parliamentary elections. While the previous law stipulated that the presidential election would be held on the last Sunday of January 2027, in accordance with the proposal we have just approved, we have supported the decision to hold the elections on the last Wednesday of January. This means that the next presidential election will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2027.

Mamataliev emphasized that now, in accordance with the established procedure, the adopted bill will be sent to the head of state for signature. The law will enter into force after it is signed by the president and officially published.
