Kyrgyzstan participates in UN Counter-Terrorism Week

Bishkek, June 30, 2026. /Kabar/. As part of Counter-Terrorism Week at the United Nations, which began on June 29 in New York, Adilet Orozbekov, Secretary of the Security Council of Kyrgyzstan, is participating in the fourth high-level conference under the theme " Future Free of Terrorism: Strengthening Global Commitment to Multilateral Approaches to Countering Terrorism through Leadership and Action by Member States."

Adilet Orozbekov briefed participants on the work being carried out in Kyrgyzstan to identify and suppress the activities of terrorist and extremist groups, including at early stages.

The Security Council Secretary noted that in this area, Kyrgyzstan continues to implement a comprehensive approach combining legislative measures and measures to prevent the radicalization of the population, particularly youth. He emphasized that societal resilience is built not only through law enforcement measures, but also through education, awareness-raising, strengthening interfaith harmony, and developing opportunities for self-fulfillment.

Furthermore, the country views the rehabilitation and reintegration of citizens returned from armed conflict zones as an important element of terrorism prevention and the fulfillment of the state's international obligations.

Adilet Orozbekov also noted that Kyrgyzstan is improving its system for combating the financing of criminal activity and, at the direction of President Sadyr Zhaparov, is currently actively preparing a draft of the corresponding National Strategy of Kyrgyzstan for the period 2026-2030.
