Bishkek, May 31, 2026. /Kabar/. A state reception was held in New York on behalf of Kyrgyzstan to mark the nomination of its candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2027–2028.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the event was attended by the foreign ministers of Germany and Zimbabwe, as well as the heads and members of diplomatic missions of member states to the UN.
In his speech, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev emphasized Kyrgyzstan's commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, international law, the peaceful settlement of disputes, preventive diplomacy, and the strengthening of multilateral cooperation.
The minister noted that the country has a strong desire to contribute to the maintenance of international peace and security. He emphasized that peace is not a given but requires daily work, dialogue, patience, mutual respect, and the ability to listen to one another.
Jeenbek Kulubaev also outlined Kyrgyzstan's key priorities if elected to the UN Security Council, including advancing a sustainable peace agenda, preventive diplomacy, protecting vulnerable groups, climate security, and building trust between states.
Particular attention was paid to the importance of ensuring equitable and inclusive representation on the Security Council. The minister emphasized that the Council's strength lies in its diversity and ability to incorporate the voices of all states—large and small, experienced and emerging, regional and global.
He also noted that, if the international community places its trust in Kyrgyzstan, it will act as a bridge-builder, a reliable partner committed to international law, the UN Charter, and the dignity of every person.
In conclusion, the minister expressed gratitude to UN member states for their confidence in Kyrgyzstan's candidacy and called on partners to support the country in the elections.
