Kyrgyzstan, Romania discuss cooperation in energy, economics, and tourism

Bishkek, June 11, 2026 /Kabar/. As part of his working visit to Romania and Kyrgyz-Romanian inter-MFA consultations, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Meder Abakirov held a series of meetings with representatives of Romanian government agencies and business circles on June 8.

According to Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a meeting with Titus Corlățean, Chairman of the Romanian Senate's Foreign Policy Committee, the parties discussed the development of Kyrgyz-Romanian relations, interparliamentary cooperation, and Kyrgyzstan's engagement with the European Union. The Romanian side expressed support for further strengthening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the EU.

At a meeting with Marius-Viorel Poșa, State Secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Energy, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, including the development of hydropower, renewable energy sources, and the implementation of joint investment projects.

During talks with Dan-Adrian Pop, State Secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism, the parties discussed expanding trade and economic cooperation, attracting investment, and developing digitalization and the tourism industry.

Besides, Kyrgyz side presented the country's investment and export potential, as well as opportunities for joint projects in energy, transport, agriculture, and tourism for Iuliu Stoclosa, President of Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and representatives of Romanian businesses. Romanian business representatives expressed interest in developing partnerships with Kyrgyzstan.
