Bishkek, July 15, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan and Russia intend to develop cooperation in seed breeding and production. During a working visit by a delegation from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry to the Krasnodar Krai, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry's Institute of Agriculture and KubanKhleb LLC, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported.

The document provides for the establishment of a joint seed breeding and production company (farm) in Chui Region, which will produce high-quality seeds, develop breeding work, and implement modern agricultural technologies.

The Kyrgyz delegation included Bakyt Mambetov, Director of the Department of Agricultural Crop and Horticulture Expertise, and Birzhan Usubaliev, Director of Institute of Agriculture.

During the visit, the Kyrgyz representatives learned about the activities of KubanKhleb LLC, visited experimental fields, and the company's modern seed plant.

"The development of seed production is one of the priorities of Kyrgyzstan's state policy." The country aims to increase certified seed production, strengthen its scientific base, and restore its status as a seed exporter. Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation is already yielding practical results: the first winter wheat hybridization nursery of Russian selection has been established in Kyrgyzstan, and the first alfalfa seed export to Russia has been completed," noted Bakyt Mambetov.

The ministry of agriculture emphasized that the signed memorandum will form the basis for the implementation of joint research projects, the establishment of variety testing sites, technology exchange, and specialist training.

This cooperation is expected to increase crop yields, develop domestic seed production, and strengthen Kyrgyzstan's food security.
