Kyrgyzstan to host events to mark 110th anniversary of Urkun

Bishkek, June 30, 2026. /Kabar/. In accordance with the instructions of State Secretary of Kyrgyzstan Arslan Koychiev, a series of state-level commemorative, scientific, and cultural events dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Urkun event are planned for 2026.

On August 8, 2026, a memorial event will be held at the monument dedicated to the victims of the Urkun event in Kyzyl-Dyikan, Zhayil district, Chui region. Events will then continue at the Ata-Beyit National Historical and Memorial Complex in the Alamudun District, where a requiem rally with a Quran reading and other public events aimed at preserving historical memory are planned.

Furthermore, bishkek will host an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Urkun event on November 6-7 as part of the Day of History and Ancestors. The conference, attended by Russian and international scholars, will discuss the historical causes and consequences of the Urkun event, its place in national historical memory, and current issues in contemporary scientific research.

The scientific forum's cultural program includes a theatrical performance dedicated to the Urkun event, exhibitions, and other cultural events.

These events are being organized by the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy, the presidential plenipotentiary representatives in Chui, Issyk-Kul, and Naryn regions, as well as the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan and several state higher education institutions.

These events, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Urkun event, aim to uphold historical justice, perpetuate the memory of the victims, and promote the in-depth study of national history and its transmission to future generations.
