Bishkek, June 22, 2026. /Kabar/. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Erlist Akunbekov met with Vice President for the Planetary Direction of the World Bank Guangzhe Cheng.
As reported by the department, during the conversation the parties discussed the following issues of strategic importance for the future of Kyrgyzstan. In particular, the modernization of water infrastructure and improvement of outdated irrigation systems (ditches, canals), providing the population with safe and high-quality clean drinking water.
Special attention was also paid to financing projects aimed at the sustainable development of the agricultural sector and regions.
Erlist Akunbekov emphasized that he considers the World Bank to be one of the main and reliable partners in implementing strategic reforms in the country and ensuring socio-economic development.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to further deepen cooperation and promptly implement new, large-scale initiatives aimed at the sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan.
