Large-scale exercises “Koopsuzduk-2026” start in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, April 21, 2026. /Kabar/. Joint command-staff and mobilization exercises “Koopsuzduk-2026” (Security) have started today in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic, the opening ceremony took place in the city of Karakol, Issyk-Kul region. It was attended by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces – First Deputy Minister of Defense Tariel Otonbaev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Issyk-Kul region Bakytbek Zhetigenov, as well as participants of the exercises.

In his remarks, Otonbaev noted that the exercises have become a regular element of training for military command bodies and territorial defense forces.

“The active involvement of local authorities significantly increases the effectiveness and coordination of all participants,” he said.

Following the opening ceremony, participants proceeded to the second phase of the exercises, which will involve preparing and implementing measures to maintain martial law in certain areas and organize territorial defense, as well as preparing for a joint operation to localize armed conflict and destroy illegal armed groups.

In addition, combat training tasks will be carried out to stabilize the situation under martial law, including the practical deployment of reserve units.

“The protection and defense of strategic facilities is being organized, as well as the establishment of checkpoints by Interior Ministry units and reserve units,” the ministry said.

The exercises will run until April 23.
