Bishkek, June 8, 2026. /Kabar/. More than 1,600 Kyrgyz citizens are currently legally working in South Korea under the interstate EPS (Employment Permit System). Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration Kanat Sagynbaev told during the media project "Open Office: Territory of Responsibility."
According to him, this migration route remains one of the most in-demand. The Center for employment of citizens abroad has been cooperating with the Korean side for 18 years. During this period, more than 5,000 Kyrgyzstanis have found employment in Korea.
The minister noted that the average salary of compatriots in South Korea is approximately $1,700 per month. Employers cover accommodation and food expenses partially or fully.
He also added that organized employment contributes to reduction in unemployment, the development of professional skills, an increase in remittances to the country, and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Korea.
As Kanat Sagynbaev noted, it is important for citizens to have the opportunity to realize their potential in more developed labor markets so that they can provide greater support to their families and friends back home. The higher a person's level of competence, the higher their earnings, so training citizens before departure and developing resource centers to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills are of great importance.
