Open Cabinet: Kyrgyz science minister visits Institute of Biotechnology

Bishkek, June 30, 2026. /Kabar/. Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation of Kyrgyzstan Gulzat Isamatova began her workday as part of Open Cabinet media project, accompanied by media representatives. As part of the project, the minister visited the Institute of Biotechnology of the National Academy of Sciences.

This institute conducts environmental research and promotes nature conservation. The institute also preserves the genetic resources of plants, animals, and microorganisms, creating a gene bank. It also develops vaccines against infectious diseases of farm animals and biological control agents.

"The importance of this institute for the country is enormous. It is well known that climate change has a particular impact on flora and fauna. The preservation of endemic or endangered plant genes, the creation of a gene bank, and the conservation and monitoring of animal and microbial genetic resources are all in the hands of this institute," the minister noted.

Next, accompanied by media representatives, she will visit several higher education institutions in the capital and hold meetings there.

Open Cabinet project aims to provide transparent coverage of the activities of government agencies. The project's main goal is to provide the public with unvarnished view of the working day of government officials, from morning until evening.
