Bishkek, June 23, 2026 /Kabar/. In honor of Public and Municipal Service Workers' Day, celebrated in Kyrgyzstan on June 23, the National Statistical Committee shares data on the number of employees in the public and municipal administration system.
According to the National Statistical Committee, at the beginning of 2026, the number of civil servants in the republic (excluding state bodies responsible for defense, public order, and security) exceeded 18,000, of which approximately 58% were men.
Total number of civil servants, 14,000, or more than 77%, were employed in executive functions.
As of January 1, 2026, more than half of civil servants (approximately 57%) were based in Bishkek.
In 2025, 6,300 people were employed in local government bodies, of which 3,900 (62%) were municipal employees. Women accounted for 43% of the total number of municipal employees.
Civil Service and Municipal Service Workers' Day is a tribute to specialists who make a significant contribution to solving important problems related to the organization and management of public processes. The high level of professionalism, responsibility, and integrity of employees in the civil service and municipal government contribute to effective governance at all levels of government.
