Preparations for Kyrgyzstan’s 2026 SPECA chairmanship discussed in Bangkok

Bishkek, April 23, 2026. /Kabar/. On April 22, a bilateral meeting between Kyrgyz Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Mederbek Tumanov and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Armida Alisjahbana was held in Bangkok as part of the SPECA ministerial meeting.

According to the ministry's press service, during the talks, the parties discussed current cooperation within ESCAP, as well as the progress of joint initiatives.

Particular attention was paid to Kyrgyzstan's 2026 SPECA chairmanship, including priority areas and the schedule of upcoming events. As part of the Kyrgyz Republic's chairmanship, the country will host SPECA Week.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to coordinate joint efforts in preparing for and hosting events during the Kyrgyz Republic's SPECA chairmanship.
