Bishkek, April 4, 2025. /Kabar/. The working visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov to Uzbekistan, which took place on April 3-4, has ended.
The press service of the head of state said that on the first day of the visit, President Sadyr Zhaparov held talks with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council António Costa.
The issues of progressive development of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union were discussed, including the expansion of trade and economic ties, attracting investments and implementing initiatives in the field of sustainable development.
On the same day, Sadyr Zhaparov met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect and constructive dialogue to effectively address common challenges and strengthen regional security.
On the second day of the visit, April 4, President Zhaparov spoke at a meeting of the First Central Asia-European Union Summit in Samarkand.
The event was attended by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
In his speech, Sadyr Zhaparov noted with satisfaction the steady growth of trade and economic ties between the countries of Central Asia and the European Union and emphasized that the strategic geographical position of Kyrgyzstan and its growing transit potential open up broad prospects for trade and investment.
The president then spoke at the international forum “Central Asia in the Face of Global Climate Threats: Solidarity for Common Prosperity.”
He called for increased participation of European partners in supporting Central Asian countries, both in terms of climate financing and in the implementation of advanced technologies.
The head of state also noted the need to support Kyrgyzstan’s initiative to exchange external debt for projects aimed at climate and sustainable development.
On April 4, having completed his working visit to Uzbekistan, President Sadyr Zhaparov returned to Bishkek.
