Bishkek, March 26, 2026. /Kabar/. In order to increase the export potential of agricultural products in Kyrgyzstan, the construction of 40 more trade and logistics centers is planned by 2030. The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry reports.
According to the ministry, 40 trade and logistics centers are currently operating in the country, and eight more are planned for commissioning this year.
According to the National Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2030, Kyrgyzstan's advantageous geographic and geostrategic position, located between major global and regional countries, creates the preconditions for the development of a transport, logistics, financial, and trade hub. In this regard, the government has set ambitious goals to modernize the logistics infrastructure and bring it into line with international standards.
The program identifies key development areas:
— increasing rail transport capacity to 15 million tons of freight per year;
— developing warehouse and logistics infrastructure with the creation of at least 1 million square meters of new facilities;
— constructing, reconstructing, and repairing at least 50% of national highways;
— increasing the transport sector's contribution to GDP to $1.5 billion;
— increasing air travel volumes to 7 million passengers and 45,000 tons of freight per year.
Freight transportation volumes by all modes of transport increased by more than 21% between 2021 and 2024. Freight transportation and storage services increased from 28.6 billion soms in 2021 to 46.8 billion soms in 2024, an increase of 163.6%. However, road transport continues to account for the majority of freight volumes.
According to the results of last year, 40 trade and logistics centers were operating in the country, facilitating the development of export potential. Furthermore, over 30,000 Kyrgyz sellers are registered on various marketplaces, tripling the 2022 figure.
