Bishkek, Feb. 25, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, February 25, Kyrgyz President Zhaparov received Mikhail Shvydkoy, special representative of the Russian President for international cultural cooperation, the Presidential administration reported.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the further strengthening and prospects of Kyrgyz-Russian relations in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.

The head of state emphasized that this sphere traditionally serves as a solid foundation for expanding interstate dialogue and mutual understanding between peoples.

In this regard, Sadyr Zhaparov noted with satisfaction the successful Days of Russian Culture in Kyrgyzstan in 2025 and expressed confidence that the Kyrgyz House of Science and Culture in Moscow, which will open soon, will further strengthen cultural ties. The president noted that Kyrgyzstan will host the sixth World Nomad Games this year and invited the Russian team to actively participate in this significant event.

He also identified the digitalization of the cultural space as a key focus. In this context, the legacy of the outstanding Kyrgyz writer and thinker Chyngyz Aitmatov, whose work has become a true spiritual bridge between the two countries' cultures, holds a significant place.

In turn, Mikhail Shvydkoy conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to President Sadyr Zhaparov from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Mikhail Shvydkoy also noted that Kyrgyzstan is his homeland, and he is particularly excited about the country's development, which, thanks to stability and long-term planning, demonstrates one of the highest economic growth rates in the world. He emphasized that 2028, the centenary of Chyngyz Aitmatov, is a date that unites the peoples of the two countries. He also noted that 2028 is also the bicentennial of Leo Tolstoy. In this regard, he proposed commemorating these dates jointly by creating an organizing committee headed by the deputy prime ministers of the two countries.

In conclusion, Sadyr Zhaparov and Mikhail Shvydkoy confirmed their interest in further cooperation and expressed confidence that joint efforts in culture, humanitarian dialogue, and the exchange of experience will contribute to the further development of bilateral relations.
