Saudi Development Fund to finance construction of 14 schools in Bishkek

Bishkek, Jan. 22, 2026. /Kabar/. Deputy Minister of Construction Talant Imanakun uulu announced at Jogorku Kenesh that schools are planned to be built in Bishkek using funds from the Saudi Development Fund.

He noted that the first phase of public school construction was successfully completed on December 1, 2024.

According to him, 28 schools and two kindergartens were built throughout the country as part of this project. To date, 30 projects have been completed. The total cost of the first phase was $30 million, with a 25-year loan from the Saudi Development Fund at 1% interest.

"The second phase also includes a $50 million loan from the same fund at 1.5% interest for 25 years. These funds are planned for the construction of 14 schools in Bishkek. Why Bishkek? The capital's population is nearly 1.5 million. Schools are severely overcrowded," the deputy minister reported.

As Imanakun uulu noted, there are 35 schools in Sverdlovsky District, with design capacity of 29,732 students, but currently 66,747 students attend. Pervomaysky District has 27 schools with design capacity of 20,962 students, but currently only 58,000. Leninsky District has 36 schools with design capacity of 30,402 students, but currently only 91,000. Oktyabrsky District has 22 schools with a design capacity of 23,000 students, but currently only 44,788.
