Bishkek, May 29, 2026. /Kabar/. 2026 is a special year for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Deputy Finance Minister Nurbek Akzholov announced at the Ala-Archa residence at a meeting of finance ministers and central bank chairmen of the SCO member states.
Over the past two and a half decades, SCO member states have consistently shaped the architecture of financial cooperation. Beginning with bilateral agreements, we have gradually moved toward multilateral coordination of macroeconomic policies, the implementation of joint investment projects, and the expansion of trade and financial ties," he said.
According to him, participation in the SCO economic space has become a crucial factor in the Kyrgyz Republic's development.
"The organization's member states account for over 60% of Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover. Strategically significant infrastructure projects in energy, transport, and the agro-industrial complex have been implemented within the SCO framework. Today, the SCO unites states with a combined population of over 3.5 billion people and accounts for approximately 30% of global GDP. This is not just statistics; it represents real economic weight and significant development potential.
