Bosteri, June 19, 2026 /Kabar/. The Media Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states is discussing issues of expanding information cooperation, digital journalism, and the role of artificial intelligence in media. Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Salkyn Sarnogoeva informs.

According to her, the first SCO Media Forum was held in 2019 at the initiative of Kyrgyzstan.

"We are pleased that, under Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the SCO, this initiative has once again received support and is being held in Kyrgyzstan. Our goal is to strengthen interaction between the media structures of the SCO member states. Each country has its own established experience and mechanisms in the media sphere, and we wanted to exchange best practices. It is important to develop multilateral cooperation within the SCO and create a unified information space that reaches millions of people," she said.

She also noted the need to create common information resources and reported that an initiative had been announced to create a joint television channel of the SCO member states. According to her, this idea could very well be realized in the future.

Sarnogoeva stated that digital journalism and artificial intelligence would also be key topics at the forum.

"Today, traditional media have changed their format. Furthermore, new players have emerged in the information space—bloggers and influencers. Information spreads very quickly through social media and digital platforms," she noted.

The deputy minister added that, in today's environment, maintaining the role of traditional media, promptly and accurately disseminating information, and accurately presenting the SCO agenda to a wider audience are particularly important.
