Bishkek, June 19, 2026 /Kabar/. The first Consultative Meeting of the National Human Rights Bodies of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States on Human Rights Protection will take place in Bishkek on June 23, the Institute of Akyikatchy (Ombudsman) reports.
The event will be attended by heads and representatives of national human rights institutions and government agencies from Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, participants will exchange information on the activities of national human rights institutions and relevant government agencies of the SCO countries. The heads of the delegations will present information on the legal framework and powers of their institutions, and share their experiences and practices in protecting human rights and freedoms.
Following the consultative meeting, protocol is planned to be signed and a joint statement adopted.
In addition, the event will include bilateral meetings and the signing of memoranda of cooperation between the national human rights institutions of the SCO member states.
Meeting participants will also meet with Marlen Mamataliev, Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament).
