Bishkek, June 16, 2026. /Kabar/. On June 15, the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation of Kyrgyzstan held a roundtable discussion on "Sports Medicine: Current Issues and Development Prospects."
According to the ministry, the event was organized jointly with the Kyrgyz State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports named after B.T. Turusbekov and the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaev.
Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation Lira Sulaimanova opened the roundtable, who in her speech emphasized the importance of developing sports medicine and the need to strengthen the industry's scientific and human resources potential.
"Sports medicine is an integral part of the modern healthcare, physical education, and sports system. Today, we face the challenges of further developing its scientific and human resources potential, improving specialist training, and implementing modern diagnostic, preventive, and rehabilitation technologies.
Representatives of government agencies, relevant departments, higher education institutions, the medical and sports communities, as well as leading experts in sports medicine, participated in the roundtable.
The main objective of the event was to discuss current issues related to the training of sports physicians, improving the sports medicine system, and strengthening its role in the country's healthcare system. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the National Development Program of Kyrgyzstan until 2030 and the Program for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports in Kyrgyzstan until 2030.
Participants noted the need to consolidate the efforts of government agencies, educational and scientific institutions, medical organizations, and the sports community to further improve the sports medicine system and train highly qualified specialists.
Following the roundtable discussion, a resolution was adopted, including recommendations for the development of sports medicine, improving the training system, and strengthening interdepartmental cooperation in this area.
