Bishkek, June 18, 2026 / Kabar. Total of 743 traffic accidents have been recorded in Bishkek over the first five months. Ulan Sargashkaev, deputy chief of Bishkek City patrol police department told Kabar.
According to him, there were 1,817 traffic accidents in the capital during the same period last year.
"In 2025, the number of injured people was 2,204, while this year it's 836. However, the number of fatalities, unfortunately, was higher than last year. Last year there were 38, and this year there are 39. As you can see, the number of road accidents is declining. One of the main reasons for the decline is that we've now tightened controls over pedestrians and drivers on the roads, and we're conducting strict roadside patrols. Based on this, we're working to reduce the accident rate. We also visit educational institutions, transport associations, and businesses to educate drivers," Sargashkayev said.
