Bishkek, May 21, 2026. /Kabar/. The day before yesterday, at the initiative of Kyrgyzstan, the United Nations General Assembly adopted by consensus a resolution entitled "Peaceful Resolution of Border Disputes".

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, more than 40 states came out as co-sponsors of the document. The resolution was proposed by Kyrgyzstan jointly with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The main purpose of the resolution is to share with the world community the historic achievement of the countries of the region: to demonstrate the ability to resolve sensitive issues through peaceful means (through dialogue, negotiations and other mutually agreed methods) in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.

The resolution proposes a simple and universal principle: when states face border disputes, the way forward should be based on peace, rule of law, and dialogue.

The achievements of Central Asia, as outlined in the resolution, serve as a constructive example for the entire international community, serving as a model of good relations between neighboring states and as a contribution of the countries of the region to strengthening international peace and security.

The adoption of the resolution was another confirmation and international recognition of the ability of Kyrgyzstan and the countries of the region to peacefully resolve pressing issues that have been unresolved for decades.

The world community unanimously noted the desire of Central Asian countries to strengthen peace and mutual trust in the region.
