Bishkek, Nov. 18, 2025 /Kabar/. UNDP Resident Representative in Kyrgyzstan Alexandra Solovieva noted that the topic of biodiversity is particularly relevant now.

According to her, the mountain ecosystem of Kyrgyz Republic is vulnerable to climate change, and rare species such as the snow leopard are experiencing its impact. The government's systematic actions and the development of a biodiversity program through 2040 exemplify how collaboration between the state, scientific communities, and the private sector contributes to the country's sustainable development and the rational use of natural resources.

"UN Development Programme in Kyrgyz Republic is a reliable, long-term partner of the government and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Technical Supervision in this area. We support a wide range of programs and integrated efforts, such as the preparation of nationally determined contributions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and a transparency report on climate change efforts.

Such a strategic program requires a whole range of measures to both reduce emissions and adapt to climate change, which is already occurring and affects all sectors of the country's economy," she added.
