Bishkek, May 29, 2026. /Kabar/. During meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of SCO countries in Bishkek, Deputy head of Kyrgyz National Bank Azat Kozubekov emphasized the expanding use of national currencies in settlements between SCO countries.
According to him, the share of the Russian ruble in Kyrgyzstan's export transactions increased from 25.5% in 2021 to almost 70% in March 2026. The Chinese yuan's position in import transactions has significantly strengthened, increasing its share from less than 1% in 2021 to approximately 30% in March 2026, he stated.
"Predictable monetary conditions and stable financial sector in Kyrgyz Republic form the necessary foundation for expanding investment, trade, and economic cooperation within our region," noted Azat Kozubekov.
He also emphasized that, given growing global uncertainty, strengthening coordination between the central banks and financial institutions of SCO member states is particularly important.
