6th World Nomad Games to be held in two locations

Bishkek, Jan.15, 2026 /Kabar/. 6th World Nomad Games in 2026 will be held in two locations: the opening ceremony will take place in Bishkek, and the main competitions will take place in Issyk-Kul. Kazybek Moldaziyev, Director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports told meda, at press conference at Kabar news agency.

According to him, the opening ceremony is scheduled for August 31 at the Bishkek Arena stadium, which is currently under construction, and will coincide with the anniversary SCO summit. On September 1, all participants will be sent to Cholpon-Ata for accommodation, and the competitions will begin on September 2 and last until September 6. The closing ceremony will also take place in Cholpon-Ata. Moldaziyev noted that the main venues for Games are four locations: the hippodrome, the Gazprom sports and fitness complex, the Rukh-Ordo ethnocomplex, and Kyrchyn.

World Nomad Games program covers eight major areas:

  • National games of the peoples of the world;
  • Horse racing;
  • Horse competitions;
  • National wrestling;
  • Traditional strength sports;
  • Intellectual games;
  • Traditional archery;
  • National hunting with falcons and dogs.

According to Nursultan Adenov, head of the International Secretariat of the World Nomad Games, in addition to the sports program, an extensive cultural program is planned. It will include evening concerts, an international ethnic festival with the participation of about 40 countries, where the culture of the peoples of the world will be presented in the directions of ethno-hit, ethnic fashion, ethnic dances, and ethnic storytelling.

"Kyrgyzstan will create an atmosphere of traditional ethnic culture for the entire world, in which tourists will be able to immerse themselves for entire week," Adenov noted.

The creation of exhibition tourism zones is also planned, which will serve as additional tool for promoting Kyrgyzstan's tourism potential.
