Bishkek, Oct. 29, 2025. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev paid a working visit to the People's Republic of China from October 21 to 27 and participated in the 10th International Green Energy Forum, which was held in Suzhou.

Minister Taalaibek Ibraev noted the annual growth in electricity demand, emphasized that energy is the main source of economic development, and spoke about Kyrgyzstan's potential for electricity generation, as well as the two countries' cooperation in the energy sector.

"I would like to note that the Kyrgyz energy sector is currently the flagship of green energy in the Central Asian region. The republic is located at the sources of major rivers. Approximately 90% of clean energy is generated by large hydroelectric power plants. In order to transition to green technologies, large-scale work to introduce green generation has been underway in the Republic over the past two years. Chinese partners are implementing projects to build 1,100 MW solar power plants and a 300 MW wind farm. Chinese companies have extensive experience implementing large-scale modernization projects at existing hydroelectric power plants, including the Toktogul, Uch-Korgon, and At-Bashy hydroelectric power plants. Among them are such world-renowned companies as China Road and Bridge Corporation, TBEA, Dongfang Electric, and CNEEC. We call on international partners, donors, and financial institutions to collaborate with us in implementing green energy projects in our country," noted Ibraev.

In addition, a bilateral meeting was held between Taalaibek Ibraev, the heads of JSC NESK, JSC ES, and JSC Kyrgyzkomur, Wang Hongzhi, Director General of the State Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China, Lu Junlin, Chief Economist of the State Energy Administration, and representatives of the Renewable Energy Agency. At the meeting, the parties discussed deepening cooperation in the energy and coal industries, implementing joint projects, and attracting investors to Kyrgyzstan.

Minister Ibraev made proposals for the construction of the 500 kV Kemin-Torugart and 200 kV Barskoon-Bedel transmission lines, as well as for the joint implementation of renewable energy projects. Training for Kyrgyz energy workers was also discussed.

Following the meeting, the Chinese minister of energy expressed readiness to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan and noted that he would support the implementation of the proposed projects jointly with Chinese private companies. Following the meeting, the ministers toured the exhibition organized as part of the energy forum.
