Customs Head visits Irkeshtam checkpoint

Bishkek, Sept. 16, 2025 /Kabar/. On September 12, Chairman of the State Customs Service Almaz Saliev visited the Irkeshtam automobile checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border.

According to the Customs, the goal of the visit was to monitor the progress of the checkpoint modernization as arriving freight vehicles increased and to resolve current issues.

The heads of the Osh customs office, the State Customs Service, contractors, as well as representatives of companies involved in the construction and reconstruction of the checkpoint infrastructure took part in the work.

Following the visit, the head of the customs service instructed:

- to speed up the construction of the inspection and screening complex;

- to complete the construction of service housing before the cold winter comes;

- to ensure safe and uninterrupted traffic during the construction of the export point;

- to consider proposals for adjusting the design parameters of the parking lot to improve the quality and durability of the road surface and fencing.

In addition, the Chairman of the State Customs Service held a meeting with freight carriers. He announced plans to modernize and implement an electronic queue system, which will reduce waiting time and increase the convenience of movement for carriers. Carriers positively assessed the implementation of the Smart Bajy (Customs) program, which accelerates customs clearance.

Additional meeting with representatives of interested government agencies at the Central Office of the State Customs Service (Bishkek) will be held on September 16, 2025 to discuss further steps to implement the project.
