Bishkek, Nov. 27, 2025. /Kabar/. A new Digital and Financial Literacy Center was officially opened on Wednesday in the House of Culture in Tash-Dobo village by the Alamudun District Administration, with support from UNDP. The Center will expand community access to essential digital and financial skills, empower young people with practical learning opportunities, and help strengthen social cohesion at the local level. The initiative is implemented through the partnership between UNDP, the National Agency for Religious Affairs and Interethnic Relations

Administration, representatives of NARAIR, the Ministry of Digital Development and Innovation, UNDP, local self-government bodies, PCC members, youth representatives, and community leaders.

“The opening of this Center is of great significance for the local community. It will serve as an important platform for promoting social cohesion, dialogue, and collective development. In the 21st century, as digitalization rapidly transforms our lives, digital literacy has become a key competency—especially for young people living in remote areas. We are confident that this Center will open new opportunities for learning, self-development, and active engagement of youth in their community.” – Iskender Eshimbekov, head of Interethnic relations department of NARAIR

Equipped with modern computers, educational tools, and practical learning materials, the Center will deliver hands-on workshops, training courses, and community consultations on digital technologies, financial literacy, e-government services, and community events. It is designed as a multifunctional community space that brings together residents, youth groups, and local authorities.

Beyond capacity building, the Center will act as a hub for dialogue and social unity. It will host public discussions, thematic forums, and expert meetings that encourage constructive communication, foster trust, and engage diverse community groups in joint initiatives that strengthen local resilience and cooperation.

“The opening of this Center is a step toward empowering people with digital skills they need today. The future belongs to the curious. I hope our young people choose to be continuous learners and keep learning, together. This Center will help them do that. By investing in youth and creating a space for learning and dialogue, we build stronger, more resilient communities.

UNDP is proud to support this partnership so everyone has the chance to thrive,” said Patrick Haverman, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative.Speaking at the ceremony, representatives of local authorities and partner institutions emphasized the importance of cooperation in promoting digital inclusion and community

development. With support from UNDP and national partners, the Center is expected to become a long-term resource for skills development, community empowerment, and inclusive decision-making.

The establishment of the Digital, Financial, and Media Literacy Center is part of the broader National Development Programme 2030 and national efforts to strengthen local governance, advance digital transformation.
