Bishkek, Jan.14, 2026 /Kabar/. According to the latest data, Kyrgyzstan recorded a significant increase in bank lending volumes from January to September 2025, primarily in consumer loans, trade activities, and mortgage programs.
According to the National Statistical Committee's report, as of October 1, the banking sector's open loan portfolio reached 461.1 billion soms, increase of 1.5 times, or 160.3 billion soms, compared to the same period last year. The majority of loans 379.1 billion soms, or 82.2% of the portfolio were issued in national currency.
The main lending categories were distributed as follows:
Consumer loans—165.1 billion soms (35.8%);
Trade — 109.4 billion soms (23.7%);
Mortgage lending — 50.7 billion soms (11%);
Agriculture — 49.7 billion soms (10.8%).
Long-term loans predominate in the portfolio structure, accounting for 87.4%, while short-term loans account for 12.6%.
The largest lending volumes go to borrowers in Bishkek, accounting for 52% of the total portfolio. Jalal-Abad region ranks second, accounting for 10.1%.
The growth in lending activity reflects the strengthening of the country's financial sector, as well as increased demand for borrowed funds from households and businesses.
