Bishkek, Nov. 12, 2025 /Kabar/. Secretary of the Security Council of Kyrgyzstan Baktybek Bekbolotov met today with UNICEF Representative in Kyrgyzstan Samman Thapa.

According to the administration's press service, during the meeting, Baktybek Bekbolotov noted that the missions to return children and women from camps in Iraq and Syria required significant resources, coordinated actions, and a high degree of responsibility. Their implementation was made possible thanks to the support of international partners, among whom UNICEF played a key role. "UNICEF's experience in protecting children's rights is vast and extremely important to us. We particularly appreciate UNICEF's commitment to helping prevent stigma and discrimination against children and women returning from conflict zones," concluded Baktybek Bekbolotov.

In turn, Samman Thapa praised the government's efforts to repatriate Kyrgyz citizens from camps in Iraq and Syria, where they had been living in harsh conditions, and noted that Kyrgyzstan's efforts in this area are exemplary not only regionally but also globally.
