Bishkek, Feb. 3, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan will continue to apply tariff exemptions on the import of electric vehicles in 2026, while significantly increasing the permissible import volume. This was announced at press conference at Kabar by Elimbek Kanybek uulu, head of EAEU coordination department at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
According to him, this year's duty-free import quota was increased from 10,000 to 15,000 units. Initially, the Kyrgyz proposal met with some resistance from EAEU partner countries, but the initiative was approved at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council held in December 2025.
"The exemption applies to both pure electric vehicles and vehicles with serial hybrid drives, including popular Lixiang/Li Auto models," he said.
