Kyrgyzstan, Oman discuss possibility of opening direct flights

Bishkek, Feb. 13, 2025. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev held a meeting with CEO of Oman's Salam Air, Tarek Miran Al-Raisi on February 12, 2025, as part of his official visit to Oman.

During the talks, Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev spoke about the development of the aviation industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, including the modernization and construction of new international airports in Kyrgyzstan. In this regard, taking into account the airline's experience in operating charter flights between Kyrgyzstan and Oman, he proposed considering the possibility of opening direct flights to Kyrgyzstan from Oman.

CEO of Oman's Salam Air, Tarek Miran Al-Raisi, expressed gratitude for the meeting and information on the development of aviation in Kyrgyzstan. In this context, the airline expressed interest in resuming charter flights between Kyrgyzstan and Oman with the aim of further establishing direct air links on a permanent basis.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to carry out appropriate work to implement the agreements reached, including the preparation of the relevant regulatory framework.

Salam Air was founded in 2016 in the Sultanate of Oman. It is the first low-cost airline in the country, wholly owned by Masqat National Development and Investment - Asas.

The company operates a fleet of 13 Airbus A320 aircraft, Salam Air serves 6 domestic destinations in Oman and 37 cities in 18 countries. In 2022 and 2023, Salam Air was named the most reliable brand in Oman.

The company's headquarters are located in Muscat, and its contact centers are located in Salalah, Dubai, Karachi, Sialkot, Multan (Pakistan), as well as Doha, Iran, Kathmandu (Nepal), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Jeddah, Riyadh, Egypt, Kuwait and Turkey.
