Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan agreed to conduct joint rescue exercises

Bishkek, Jan. 23, 2026 /Kabar/. Delegation from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, led by Deputy Minister Ernest Zhusupov, participated in the 10th ECO Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the ministerial conference was held on January 21-22 in Islamabad. Representatives of emergency services from ECO member states, as well as regional and international organizations, participated in the event. The conference addressed issues of strengthening regional coordination, early warning systems, and collective response to climate-related emergencies.

Speaking at the conference, Ernest Zhusupov emphasized the importance of strengthening regional and international cooperation, improving early warning and response systems, and the need for joint efforts to improve the effectiveness of disaster risk reduction measures.

Following the event, the participants updated the ECO Regional Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction for 2025-2030 and adopted the Islamabad Declaration, aimed at further developing cooperation within the ECO and strengthening resilience to natural disasters.

Furthermore, on the sidelines of the conference, Ernest Zhusupov held a bilateral meeting with Inam Heydar Malik, Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan, where they discussed further cooperation, exchange of experience, personnel training, and joint exercises and drills.

"The parties noted the importance of strengthening partnerships and expressed their readiness to continue working together to reduce disaster risks," the ministry noted.
