Bishkek, April 6, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev and Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev signed an agreement that could take the country's energy sector to a qualitatively new level.
According to the ministry, this document is more than just equipment supply agreement; it opens up broad opportunities for Kyrgyzstan: the introduction of modern technologies, active exchange of experience, and, most importantly, the creation of joint ventures. Thus, Kyrgyzstan is gradually strengthening its position as a consumer country to a producer country.
Taalaibek Ibraev emphasized the significance of the agreement, noting that it will be a key step in modernizing the country's energy system, enabling the introduction of new technologies, and strengthening domestic production potential.
Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev, in turn, noted the document's strategic nature.
"This memorandum lays the foundation for long-term contracts for the supply of Russian electrical equipment to Kyrgyzstan," he stated. He also added that the parties intend to develop technology exchange and localize production, which will be an important step toward the joint development of the energy sector.
The production capabilities of CIS countries, including Belarus, were also presented at the Energoprom forum in Kazan. The creation of a unified technological space is being discussed, strengthening Kyrgyzstan's role as important participant in regional energy cooperation.
"Ultimately, the agreements reached in Kazan represent more than just cooperation; they represent real steps toward technological modernization, industrial growth, job creation, and stronger economy." Kyrgyzstan is confidently strengthening its position in the energy sector and is already laying the foundation for future development," the statement says.
