Bishkek, June 18, 2026 /Kabar/. Health Minister Damir Osmonov met with Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and Red Crescent Societies (RCS).

During the meeting, Damir Osmonov noted that the RCS has been a reliable partner in the country's healthcare system for many years. With the support of the IFRC and international partners, the RCS provides significant support in implementing disease prevention programs, promoting public health, responding to emergencies, and supporting vulnerable groups.

Particular attention was given to increasing public confidence in vaccination. IFRC and RCS representatives emphasized their commitment to continuing public awareness campaigns aimed at countering misinformation and disseminating accurate information about vaccination.

It was noted that in some cases, vaccination refusal is due to misinterpretations of religious beliefs and concerns about possible complications following vaccination. In this regard, the parties agreed to strengthen joint efforts to inform the public based on scientifically sound evidence.

HIV prevention and reducing stigma against people living with HIV were also discussed. RCS representatives emphasized the importance of continuing information campaigns among the public and key populations to increase adherence to treatment and prompt access to medical care.

Particular attention was paid to the development of public epidemiological surveillance, the implementation of the National Tuberculosis-VII Program, the expansion of programs for active tuberculosis detection, patient support, and strengthening the healthcare system's preparedness for epidemics and emergencies.

The parties also discussed further cooperation in the area of water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), as well as joint measures to reduce the impact of climate risks on public health.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to further expand cooperation in the interests of preserving the health and well-being of the population of Kyrgyzstan.
