Bishkek, June 23, 2026. /Kabar/. The 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan held in Cholpon-Ata city, Issyk-Kul region, in narrow and expanded format.
The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev and the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.
The political cooperation between the two countries in the interests of the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will continue to expand thanks to the leaders of the countries, in addition, joint projects and initiatives in the trade and economic, investment, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres are actively promoted, interregional cooperation is developing, and agreements approved in the relevant “road maps” are being successfully implemented.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Ministry of Trade and Industry Adylbek Kasymaliev noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches particular importance to deepening cooperation with Uzbekistan in the trade and economic sphere, and that mutual trade in this area is constantly growing.
“By the end of 2025, the trade turnover between our countries exceeded $1 billion, which is an increase of 19% compared to 2024. I would like to emphasize that it has doubled over the past five years. We have jointly set an ambitious, achievable goal - to increase the mutual trade turnover to $2 billion by 2030,” said Adylbek Kasymaliev.
It was also noted that the activities of the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Development Fund, which is successfully implementing projects beneficial to both parties, should be activated, and its authorized capital should be increased in accordance with the agreements reached.
“We propose to pay special attention to industrial cooperation and joint industrial projects. We support the creation of joint industrial parks and logistics complexes, as well as the development of mechanisms for state support for such projects. We support the creation of a joint interdepartmental working group to develop an agro-industrial cooperation program until 2030,” said the chairman of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Also, cooperation in the transport sector will remain a key factor in economic integration, and the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which will become a modern "Silk Road" of the 21st century. Close coordination of the implementation of the Kambarata-1 HPP, which is of strategic importance in the energy sector, continues.
In turn, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov noted that today's talks are aimed at implementing specific projects aimed at the well-being of the fraternal peoples of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, and that the Uzbek side is always ready and interested.
At the end of the meeting, the Protocol of the 12th meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan was signed based on the results of the talks.
